About This Session

Technology continues to change the field of physical therapy. Carie McPhail will discuss how physical therapists can use DorsaVi’s wearable technology to aid not only in the rehabilitation of injured athletes, but also as a preventative measure to keep injuries from occurring. She will focus on the use of DorsaVi with running injury prevention.

Speaker 

Carie Balton McPhail, PT, DPT, SCS, CMTPT, GTS, RRCA

Carie grew up in Germantown, Tennessee and is a graduate of Hutchison School. She received her BA in Education from Millsaps College and her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Carie has been a Certified Manual Trigger Point Therapist- Dry Needling since 2015. She is also one of a few APTA Board Certified Sports Clinical Specialists in the Memphis area. She earned this title in 2017. She also began work with concussion physical therapy in 2018 and became a RRCA Certified Running Coach in 2020! She is certified in many other areas of Physical Therapy, including Graston Technique and Blood Flow Restriction Training.

Carie has a passion for running medicine and athlete injury prevention. She has treated a variety of athletes from weekend warrior to professional. She believes that all people can benefit from performance training with a balanced plan.

Carie has a background in group exercise and personal training. She spent many years teaching yoga, group exercise, and bootcamps as well as racing triathlons in her free time. She has a passion for helping others reach their goals. She has volunteered on the sidelines of Memphis University School football since 2012. She believes that early intervention is the key to keeping athletes healthy!

Currently, she serves as a Sports Specialist Physical Therapist with Campbell Clinic in Germantown, TN. She also runs her own business, Memphis Kinetics LLC, which is focused on athlete injury prevention. She also serves as the lead Physical Therapist for Collage Ballet’s Professional Company in Memphis, TN.
